The 2019 Taurus is offered with a choice between two 3.5-liter V-6 engines, both connected to six-speed automatic transmission. The basic engine is naturally aspirated and produces 288 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque. FWD is standard, and AWD is optional. In MotorTrend testing, a FWD Taurus with this engine needed 6.6 seconds to accelerate from 0-60. Oddly, an AWD model took 7.2 seconds to do the same. EPA-rated fuel economy is 18/26 mpg city/highway for FWD models and 17/24 mpg for AWD models. A 365 hp, 350 lb-ft EcoBoost twin-turbo V-6 is installed in the Taurus SHO, which includes standard AWD. Motor Trend measured 0-60 mph acceleration times between 5.2 and 5.4 seconds for the Taurus SHO. EPA-rated fuel economy comes in at 16/24 mpg.
