The Escape is an extremely safe car in the eyes of the IIHS. The small SUV earns the highest possible scores in all six crashworthiness evaluations, as well as the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention tests. The only smudge on its perfect record is the headlight rating. The halogen projectors standard on most models received a Moderate rating (second lowest, of four available ratings) and the Titanium trim's LEDs earned an Acceptable score (second-highest rating). With the LEDs, the Escape is a 2020 IIHS Top Safety Pick. Ford's compact SUV also earns a five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA. New for 2020, Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard on all trims. Automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, and auto high beams are all included. The top-spec Titanium model adds stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, active lane centering, and park assist.
