The TLX performs well for the most part in IIHS safety testing, earning the highest possible score of Good in four of five crashworthiness tests and a one-step-down Acceptable rating in the Small overlap front: driver-side test. Standard LED headlights receive an Acceptable rating as well, and the TLX gets a superior front crash prevention rating thanks to standard auto emergency braking. It fared better in NHTSA safety testing, in which the TLX earned a five-star overall safety rating and perfect scores in frontal crash, side crash, and rollover safety tests. Even entry-level TLXs have the necessities of driver-assist active safety tech—auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane keep assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, rain-sensing wipers, and a 360-degree camera system are all available on higher trims.
